Xactimate questions / Getting started

What is the difference between Xactimate training and certification?

Understand the difference between practical Xactimate workflow training and official Verisk certification.

01

The practical answer

Training teaches skills and workflow. Certification is a separate credential issued through Verisk's certification program after the applicable requirements and examination are completed. Parrot Key provides independent field and estimating training; it does not issue official Verisk or Xactware certification.

02

Why this matters in a real field file

A person can need practical field coaching even when preparing for certification, and a certified user can still need help applying the software within a company's inspection process. The objective should be stated clearly so the class teaches the right material.

  • Define whether the goal is field performance, exam preparation, or both
  • Confirm the current official certification requirements
  • Identify the learner's starting level
  • Practice complete estimates rather than isolated questions
  • Do not describe independent training as official certification
03

How Parrot Key teaches it

Parrot Key focuses on repeatable property workflows, graded practice, and file review. Certification questions should always be checked against current Verisk materials.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

  • Can Parrot Key training help someone prepare for certification?

It can strengthen practical sketching, scoping, estimating, and review skills, but students should use Verisk's current exam objectives and preparation materials for the official credential.
