Working adjuster and Parrot Key instructorUpdatedThe best device is a currently supported device that can run the required Xactimate features reliably, has enough screen space for sketch and estimate review, and fits the user's field routine. Many operators prefer a tablet for sketching and file review, while a phone may remain useful for photographs and quick access.
Hardware affects more than convenience. Screen size, camera behavior, battery life, storage, operating-system support, sensors, protective cases, cellular access, and compatibility with measurement tools can change the practical workflow.
For team classes, Parrot Key asks what devices the company already owns and designs drills around the actual setup. That exposes differences before they become field surprises.
It is helpful but not always required. Mixed devices can reveal workflow differences, but the instructor should know the device list in advance so the class is not consumed by preventable setup problems.
